Marketing: Strategy & Communication for Emerging Brands
Mercedes Gonzalez, Director, Global Purchasing Companies
Matthew Thornton & Mark Ramel, Co-Founders, Armchair Studio, LLC
Moderator: Anthony Lilore, Design and Production Warrior, RESTORE Clothing

Marketing is often overlooked, and worse, written off as unessential to emerging brands. It is hard to justify the costs when the benefits seem unquantifiable. However, being silent, or worse, miscommunication are not options in today’s marketplace. Limited capital and knowledge can lead to frustration and confusion. Further, while technology can make it easier to communicate brands to potential customers:

  • A logo does not equal a brand

  • A website does not equal a digital presence

  • Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest pages do not equal an engaged audience
  • A press release does not equal press coverage

Taking a simple and critical look at branding and the core components of communication (print/digital/customer-direct) companies can find clear benefits to developing an actionable and scalable strategy. Implementing that strategy with core brand components and best practices, will provide a strong foothold for recognition in the marketplace, elevating emerging brands from the crowd and enabling continued growth.
